How to Clean Leather Placemats

What You'll Need

  • Soft, lint-free cloths

  • Clean water

  • “Easy” leather cleaner (if you use it)

  • Microfiber towel

Important: Only wipe your leather placemats with clean water, a soft cloth, or the approved “Easy” cleaning product. That’s it. No experiments.

Step-by-Step Cleaning Process

1. Daily Maintenance

After every use, wipe the placemats with a dry or slightly damp cloth. This keeps crumbs and light stains from settling into the leather.

2. Light Cleaning

Use clean water on a soft cloth to gently wipe the surface. If needed, apply a small amount of “Easy” cleaner—but nothing else. Always dry immediately with a clean towel.

3. Do Not Do This

To keep your placemats in good shape, do not:

  • Soak them in water

  • Scrub with a brush (even soft ones)

  • Use harsh or unapproved cleaning products

  • Leave oily, ketchup, or acidic stains overnight - clean them as soon as possible

  • Fold or bend them - this will cause permanent creases

Optional: Conditioning (Only if Necessary)

If you notice the leather drying out over time, you can apply a leather conditioner sparingly. Always test on a small area first and never overdo it.

Quick Tips
  • Keep them flat and stored in a cool, dry place

  • Avoid direct sunlight and heat sources

  • Clean spills as soon as possible—speed matters
